The Central Tennessee town of Columbia is known for its plethora of historical sights, museums, and events. It is the Antebellum Capitol of Tennessee and is a necessary stop for anyone interested in Civil War History. It is also the ancestral home the 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk. His former home has been converted into a museum and holds tours daily. If you happen to be in the area during the first week in April be sure to check out the unique Mule Day Parade – a weeklong event celebrating well… mules. The city of Nashville is a mere 45 minutes away.
